ECP Energy Industry Roundtable & Reception

ECP successfully held its annual Energy Industry Briefing Roundtable and first “Energy and Charity” Reception at the China World Hotel in Beijing on December 14, 2017. ECP, together with its member companies, had a thorough discussion with US Ambassador to China, Mr. Terry Branstad, USTDA Deputy Director, Ms. Enoh Ebong,  and officials from the US government including  Department of Commerce and Department of Energy. The discussion focused on the current situation, trends of development, achievements, and future challenges in energy, energy efficiency and the environmental protection industry. Mr. Branstad and Ms. Ebong listened to the major initiatives updates presented by representatives from 18 US companies and discussed ways to better work together through pilot projects and other types of support.

After the Energy Industry Briefing Roundtable, more than 100 people, including representatives of ECP member companies, US and Chinese government, industry partners and Chinese partner companies, attended ECP’s “Energy and Charity” Reception. Ms. Ebong, FCS Senior Commercial Officer Bradley Harker and ECP Co-Chair of Board Harry Haury delivered speeches to congratulate ECP on its progress over the past year. ECP awarded trophies of Government Advisory Committee members, City Series of Workshops Program Partner, and Gas Series of Workshops Program Partner to USTDA, DOC, DOE, NEA, CCUD and other government departments and program partners in recognition of their great support. In addition, representatives from Westinghouse, Autodesk, Right to Play, and China Next Generation Education Foundation shared their stories related to “Energy and Charity”. Ms. Enoh Ebong also announced that a two-year US-China Natural Gas Industry Cooperation Series of Workshops Program is to be launched soon, with NEA as the Chinese partner and ECP the organizer.

In order to attract the attention of more people and companies to energy cooperation, ECP invited Mr. Stephon Marbury, the internationally recognized basketball player, to be its first Energy Charity Ambassador. Basketballs signed by Mr. Stephon Marbury, tennis balls signed by the well-known tennis player Ms. Li Na and a calligraphy work by the famous calligrapher Mr. Xu Fangwen were auctioned for charity during the reception. All the 206, 700 RMB collected in auction and donation were contributed to charity for helping children in poverty-stricken areas.

ECP aims to become a good platform for government-enterprise cooperation and hopes to collaborate with more partners in the future so as to advance the development of US-China cooperation programs.
