On September 26, to promote green energy transition
cooperation between Chinese and U.S. states and provinces, the China
International Contractors Association (CHINCA), the U.S.-China Energy
Cooperation Program (ECP), and the American Chamber of Commerce in Southwest
China jointly organized the “U.S.-China
Green Energy Transition Cooperation Forum” in Chengdu, with Dongfang
Electric Corporation hosting the event. ECP invited energy technology companies
such as Emerson, Baker Hughes, Eaton, and Chevron to participate and share
insights.
Over 80 representatives attended, including members from
commercial departments of Chinese provinces and municipalities within the
U.S.-China provincial economic and trade cooperation mechanism, such as
Jiangsu, Shandong, Sichuan, and Fujian, along with leading enterprises from
both countries’ energy sectors. Attendees included Xin Xiuming, Vice Chairman
of CHINCA; Sun Guojun, Senior Vice President of Dongfang Electric Corporation;
and Sun Jin, Deputy Director-General of Jiangsu Provincial Department of Commerce,
all of whom delivered opening remarks. Su Jianguo, Deputy Secretary General of
CHINCA, and Ma Li, Executive Director of the ECP, co-moderated the event.
Representatives from U.S. companies, shared insights on
emerging trends in energy transition and low-carbon development.
Representatives from Chinese power and energy companies presented overseas
clean energy projects, shared their experiences, analyzed opportunities and
challenges in U.S.-China economic and trade relations, explored potential areas
for pragmatic cooperation, and engaged in on-site networking.
Representatives from local commerce departments, development
zones, and the AmCham China Southwest Chapter introduced their regional
expertise and cooperation needs. The Southwest Chapter also highlighted its
efforts in facilitating exchanges between U.S. and Chinese companies and
expressed continued support for advancing bilateral cooperation in the energy
sector.
On the afternoon of September 26, CHINCA and ECP organized a
site visit for delegates from subnational commerce departments and
participating companies to Dongfang Electric’s technology showroom and DEC Hydrogen Energy Industrial
Park for an on-site inspection.
CHINCA has long been a partner of ECP, serving as the
Chinese secretariat for the U.S.-China provincial trade and economic
cooperation mechanism under the guidance of the Department of American and
Oceanian Affairs of the Ministry of Commerce. CHINCA will continue to work with
ECP to serve as a bridge, providing a platform for exchanges and cooperation
between Chinese subnational enterprises, member companies, and U.S.
enterprises, with the aim of promoting cooperative projects and contributing to
the green transition and sustainable development of the global energy sector.
