The Beginnings of ECP

Since its establishment, ECP has received official recognition and support from both the Chinese and U.S. governments. Notably, five key government agencies including Ministry of Commerce of China (MOFCOM), National Energy Administration (NEA), and the U.S. Department of Commerce (DOC), U.S. Department of Energy (DOE), and U.S. Trade and Development Agency (USTDA) signed a bilateral Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to formally endorse ECP’s initiatives.

ECP was endorsed by the MOU among NEA, MOFCOM, USDOC, USDOE and USTDA.

2009 - 2

In November 2009, U.S.-China Joint Statement endorsed ECP when U.S. President Barack Obama state visited China.

2010 - 1

ECP Working Groups (WG) established and U.S.-China energy cooperation rolled out in 2010. Organized the 'US-China Renewable Energy Investment Forum'

2011 - 1

In November 2011, USTDA and NEA signed an MOU that recognized and supported ECP's initiatives amid the 22nd JCCT.

2012 - 1

ECP members joined U.S. visiting with Vice Chairman Jinping Xi in February, 2012.

2013 - 1

In 2013, U.S. Secretary John Forbes Kerry and China State Councilor Jiechi Yang attended U.S.-China Energy Cooperation Meeting with ECP members.

2014 - 1

In 2014, ECP led Low Carbon Eco City Pilot Projects selected by the 6th U.S.-China Strategic Economic Dialogue.ECP launched the Green Park Initiative at the same year.

In 2015, ECP pilot projects of the distributed energy, the green infrastructure and the eco-city enlisted the outcomes of the 7th U.S.-China Strategic Economic Dialogue.

In June 2016, 27 business contracts signed by ECP members amid the U.S.-China Low Carbon Smart City Summit.

In March 2017, USTDA and CCUD under NDRC signed MOU to strengthen the cooperation for urban clean energy development.

In November 2017, U.S. President Trump state visited China with USD130 billion contracts signed by ECP members.
